The projects are broadly evaluated on the following criteria:
- Open Source-ness of it
- Complexity
- Design
- Impact
- Innovation
- Presentation & Communication
Open Source-ness of it
The project should be open-source with a friendly opensource license to it. Most go-to options would be either MIT or AGPL-3
Complexity
Evaluates the technical depth and difficulty of the problem and solution.
Considers system architecture, integrations, and overall engineering effort.
Design
Assesses the quality of user experience, interface clarity, and usability.
Focuses on intuitive flows, visual consistency, and accessibility.
Impact
Measures the real-world value and usefulness of the solution.
Looks at who benefits, how meaningful the change is, and its potential scale.
Innovation
Judges originality and creativity in both idea and execution.
Rewards fresh thinking and unique approaches to problem-solving.
Presentation & Communication
Evaluates how clearly the team explains the problem, solution, and impact.
Considers demo quality, storytelling, and ability to answer questions.
